Police in Daboya have arrested 5 (5) people for allegedly trying to kidnap a 14 12 months previous Gafaru Tonga at Singa in the North Gonja District of the Savannah Location.
The suspects who are all weavers from Daboya have been identified as: Alhassan Abdulai, 18 several years Alidu Taufic, 25 several years Osman Rashid, 19 years Amidu Hafiz, 20 yrs and Amadu Abdulai, 21 years.
The Northern Regional Police Professional Yussif Tanko explained the incident transpired on 23rd June 2019 at about 11:30pm.
Law enforcement staff have been dispatched to Singa the place the suspects ended up becoming retained at the chief’s palace by residents, the law enforcement explained.
According to the police, when the suspects were being questioned, three of them denied the allegation. On the other hand, the other two admitted to travelling to Singa on a motorbike on June 23 around 6pm to look for a white guinea fowl for their group’s rituals at Tali No. 1 close to Daboya.
The sufferer Gafaru Tonga was stated to have been contacted by the suspects to immediate them to a Fulani man’s property where they can get the guinea fowl to purchase.
The victim was picked on a motorcycle by the suspects, the police said, but they sped off and failed to end on reaching the village where by the Fulani gentleman resides.
The victim then elevated an alarm but the suspects went into hiding until finally 10pm when they have been witnessed on a few motorbikes heading in the direction of Daboya.
They were subsequently arrested and sent to the chief’s dwelling by some users of the community.
The a few motorbikes and 5 mobile phones retrieved from the suspects have been held as displays.
Meanwhile, the suspects have been held in law enforcement custody to assist law enforcement in their investigation.
There is also a manhunt for just one of the suspects who is on the run.
