Former KMA boss, Barima Akwasi Agyemang laid to rest


As preparation to ultimately lay to relaxation the longest-serving previous mayor of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA), is underway, hundreds which includes high profile personalities in the state have been browsing the funeral grounds at the Manhyia Palace to shell out their final respect to him and also mourn with the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.

The remaining funeral rites which begun on Monday, 24th February 2020 is predicted to finish on Thursday, 27th February 2020.

Vice president Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Chief of Staff members, Akosua Frema Opare, Presidents Jerry John Rawlings, John Agyekum Kuffuor and John Dramani Mahama are among the important personalities who have been to the Manhyia Palace to mourn with the Asantehene.

Barima Akwasi Agyemang died on 14th January 2020, although he was obtaining remedy at the Komfo Anokye Instructing Hospital. He died at the age of 86.

The late Barima Akwasi Agyemang, commonly identified as Okumkom was a member of the Oyoko Royal Family members and was a single of the persons regarded as for the situation of the Otumfuo in 1999.

Okumkom as affectionately known as served as mayor of KMA for about 20 decades below many regimes together with the Supreme Navy Council I and II, PNDC and NDC. Below former President Jerry John Rawlings regime, Nana Akwasi Agyemang was appointed the Deputy Minister of Science and Surroundings.
