Former Deputy General Secretary for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), MR. Koku Anyidoho yesterday narrated how he met the late Kwadwo Owuso Afriyie known as sir John.
In an audio below this article, he said he learnt the sad news around 10 O’clock in the night. The sudden transition of MR. Owusu Afriyie comes as a shock to him. Sir John was a very good friend to him because they had one thing in common. They all respected and loved the late Atta Mills.
Over the years, the month of July has not been one of his favorites. The awkward moment he went through when president Atta Mills passed on 24th July, 2012 has once again occurred.
He revealed his friendship with Sir john reckoned when he received a call from sir John around the year 2009. Sir John was the then general secretary for NPP. After the call, he met with Sir John at an official government bungalow in Cantonment. The only chat he can recall is Sir John speaking about the respect he had for president Atta Mills.
Sir John said to him at that time that “president Mills was my lecturer at Legon, I have a lot of respect for him. I will not do anything all in the name of politics to disrespect him”.
He said youths in NDC are always attacking him for having friends in NPP. They should know all the leaders in NDC have friends in NPP and vice versa. He won’t make enemies with his childhood friend because of politics.
