Tension is brewing in Asawase in Kumasi ahead of voters’ registration exercise, as Member of Parliament for the area alleges the ruling NPP has hatched a plan to bus non-residents into the constituency to register. Mr Mubarak made these statements when he addressed a press conference in Kumasi June 29.
The Ashanti regional minister, Simon Osei-Mensah upon hearing these comments from the Honorable member of parliament has issued warnings to Muntaka. He revealed he will call Mr. Mubarak right after the interview to speak to him personally.
Speaking on Nhyira FM’s morning show, the minister stated that, Muntaka should desist from such statements since he knows Asawase has always been a hotspot when it comes to issues concerning elections.
even though losing elections can be painful, parties have to put in place adequate measures to prevent them from losing. Politicians should not make statement like this because it does not help we as a nation”, he said.
The minister revealed that, Ashanti region has a strong security system, therefore anybody who is influenced by Muntaka to engage in such unlawful act will surely be dealt with. Even if you are not captured, you will surely be left with serious injuries while Muntaka will be absolutely safe with his family.
It is only voters registration not war, all citizen at 18 years and beyond with sound mind should go and get their names registeted” he advised.
