Professor Peter Twumasi, Director Basic of Nationwide Sporting activities Authority (NSA) and the Chairman of the Intercontinental Online games and Competitions Committee (IGCC), has reported the Governing administration will reward gold medalists at this year’s African Video games with $2000 and $3000 for solitary and crew sporting activities respectively.
Professor Twumasi, who made this acknowledged in an interview with GNA Sports explained, though the greatest reward a nation could give to its athletes was to don the countrywide colours, it was crucial to also give a token in appreciation of their tough work.
“A budget was sent to the Govt by the Ministry of Youth and Sports activities and it has been permitted, with a bonus structure for the specific or single sports as very well as the staff athletics like the soccer, baton and the relaxation.
“It has been authorised that any athlete who wins gold in the one sports activities would get paid $3000, with silver and bronze medalist receiving $2000 and $1000 respectively.
“With the team sports activities, each member of the team would be rewarded with $2000 for winning gold, with silver and bronze medal winners having $1500 and $1000 respectively”.
