Fire has gutted the new Kumasi Kejetia Market in the Ashanti Regional capital Kumasi.
The fire razed down one shop in the new Kejetia market after firefighters prevented the fire from spreading to other shops.
The fire which started around 6 pm on Tuesday, May 11, 2021, has destroyed Properties worth millions of Ghana Cedis.
The cause of the fire is not yet known.
The Managing Director of the Kumasi Kejetia City Market Mr. Kofi Duffour in an interview with Pure FM’s Osei Kwadwo monitored by Ghtimesonline.com said: “fire system in the market notified us about the fire outbreak and we went to see a smoke in one of the shops”.
The Fire Fighters came early as possible to control the situation.
The mayor of Kumasi Hon Osei Assibey Antwi visited the market to consoled the victims and the authorities.
Meanwhile, Kejetia City Market authorities and Ghana National Fire Service have commenced investigation into the matter.
