Some workers constructing the Kumasi International Airport and passengers have been stranded at Kumasi Airport as Security Workers at Airport embarked on a demonstration over unpaid arrears.
Over 100 Security workers at Kumasi Airport on Thursday, April 29, 2021, laid down their tools to demonstrate to demand their unpaid arrears and better Condition of Services.
The agitated Security Workers for G7 Security System Company say their salaries have been outstanding for up to 3 months.
Amidst chants of “no pay, no work” some of them expressing their grievances in an interview with Pure Fm Osei Kwadwo said they will go back to work only when they receive their cash.
According to the workers, their employers have failed to pay their Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) for so many years which they think will affect them in the future.
“We are not going back to work today or tomorrow unless they pay us our outstanding 3 months arrears and give us better Condition of Services. It was four years unpaid salary and they paid one month when we protested on Monday, April 26, 2021” They explained.
“They have to pay us today and pay our SNNIT. Since all that they understand is a demonstration, we will never rest till they address our concerns”
Management and leaders of the agitated workers are currently in a meeting to address the issue.
