Ghanaian Actor and a member of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) Micheal Afrane has stated categorically that no member of the party can secure victory for NDC in 2024 apart from former President John Dramani Mahama.
The Economist Intelligence Unit on Friday, March 19, suggested that although the NDC will win the general elections, the party stands a better chance with a new candidate.
The Economist Intelligence Unit said this fresh candidate should be introduced to desist rumours that former President John Dramani Mahama who is also the party’s 2020 flagbearer is likely to contest again.
Commenting on EIU’s Report in an interview with Pure FM’s Osei Kwadwo, Michael Afrane insisted the former President John Dramani Maham is the best candidate for NDC for the 2024 election.
According to Michael Afrane, Former President John Dramani Mahama has the best records to face NPP and other political parties in the coming 2024 general elections.
“EIU cannot tell NDC which candidate can win power for the party. Whether they like it or not, NDC will present John Dramani Mahama as 2024 presidential candidate and he will win the elections for the party” Michael Afrane said.
“EIU should shut up because the grassroots of NDC and supporters have a genuine love for John Dramani Mahama. If you compare former President John Dramani Mahama’s 4 years as a president to President Akufo-Addo’s 4 years there is no doubt that Ghanaians will vote massively for John Dramani Mahama to continue his transformation agenda for Ghanaians”.
Michael Afrane added that “Anyone who will lead NDC in 2024 cannot campaign without John Dramani Mahama’s developmental projects when he was a president. So if the person will campaign with John Dramani Mahama projects then Mahama is the best presidential candidate for NDC in 2024 to make our campaign easy and simple”.
“I’m telling you this Mahama will still lead NDC in 2024 even if he is in a wheelchair because the grassroots and supporters of the party including myself are ready to carry John Dramani Mahama to campaign” he explained
