An audio below this article has revealed that more than 779 health workers have contracted coronavirus in line of duty across the country.
According to the report, Ghana Medical Association have recorded 190 cases with 4 deaths, Ghana registered nurses and midwifes association have recorded 410 cases with 1 death, house services workers union of TUC Ghana have recorded 156 cases with 3 deaths and Government and hospital pharmacist association has also recorded 23 cases with 1 death.
A number of them are also currently in isolation awaiting their test results after being exposed to the virus.
Dr. Frank Ankobea said the unfortunate spike in infections among health workers can be attributed to the inadequate supply of PPEs.
He said that if the situation continues, healthcare delivery in the country will be affected.
Dr. Ankobea urged government to institute swift measures to prevent any future calamity with the increasing spread of covid-19.
