The Afigya Sekyere East Constituency Communication Director and Communication team member of the opposition National Democratic Congress in Ashanti Region, Sirr Abdullah has disclosed that the reopening date for Senior High School (SHS) form 3 students was rescheduled by Ghana Education Service due to shortage of food in the SHSs
The Ghana Education Service (GES) rescheduled the reopening of schools for form 3 Senior High School students to May 5, 2021.
According to the service, this followed a proposal from the Conference of Heads of Assisted Secondary Schools (CHASS). Schools were set to resume on June 30 till the end of the West African Senior Secondary Certificate Examination.
Sirr Abdullah speaking on Kumasi-based Nhyira FM Morning Show monitored by Ghtimesonline.com stated emphatically that, Senior High Schools (SHSs) are struggling to get food to feed the students.
According to Sirr Abdullah “It is not through that GES rescheduled the form 3 reopening date just to help the students to prepare for their final exams”.
“Per my investigations and discussion with some teachers and masters in some schools, there is no food to feed the students in the schools. The government has failed to supply food to the schools, which is making the students starve” Sirr Abdullah said.
“The Free Senior High School (SHS) was implemented to help students and parents but due to its poor implementation by incompetent President Akuffo-Addo’s government, the policy is gradually collapsing the second cycle institutions”.
