The former Ashanti Regional Secretary of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) has revealed that he was a member and the financier of the pro-NDC group “Hawks”.
According to Joseph Yammin, “I financed the activities of ‘Hawks’ because they were not vigilante group but members of NDC who came together to work massively for the party to secure power”.
Speaking in an interview with Pure Fm’s Osei Kwadwo monitored by Ghtimesonline.com, Joseph Yammin said “the Hawks has been dissolved not because of the ban of vigilante group by President Akuffo-Addo but the group was tagged as vigilante group”.
Joseph Yammin when he was asked why he financed the group ‘Hawks’ said “What’s wrong if I financed my party supporters who have come together to work for the party to win power. Members of the Hawks were party supporters, constituency and regional executives who came together to achieve a common goal”.
“I was a member of the Hawks as a former Minister so it should tell you the Hawks was not a vigilante group. Though members of the Hawks were tagged as vigilantes but they were not vigilante groups rather party supporters and executives” Yammin explained.
“No government can disband “Hawks” because the group was not vigilante group but party supporters. The group was dissolved because it was tagged as vigilante group but not because of the ban of vigilante group by President Akuffo-Addo”.
