The Deputy Ashanti Regional Minister under erstwhile John Dramani Mahama’s administration Joseph Yammin has quizzed the University of Cape Coast for honoring President Akufo-Addo a doctorate award for implementing Free SHS policy which has been failed.
The University of Cape Coast has conferred an honorary Doctor of Philosophy in Educational Leadership degree, on President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo at a special congregation held in his honor at the University.
The recognition is a result of the President’s policies in the country’s educational sector, particularly the Free Senior High School policy.
Joseph Yammin speaking in an interview with Pure FM’s Osei Kwadwo monitored by Ghtimesonline.com after addressing students of the University of Development Studies in WA Campus said “I don’t have a problem that President Akufo-Addo has been awarded by UCC but the embracement is becoming one too many because Nana Addo doesn’t deserve the award conferred”.
According to Joseph Yammin, the Free SHS policy implemented by Nana Addo’s government has turned to be a disaster in this country due to poor management.
“If UCC is awarding President Akufo-Addo on Free SHS which is a failure, then I think the president doesn’t deserve a doctorate from only UCC because Free SHS is not the only failed policy under President Akufo-Addo,” Yammin said.
“I think that KNUST should prepare and also confer a doctorate degree in collapsed of banks in the country. The University of Ghana should also confer on the president another doctorate degree in the area of massive corruption then the University of Mines and Energy should also prepare in honoring the president with a doctorate degree in the burning of excavators” Yammin added.
“Today students go school for 39 days and stay home for 90 days which means the policy has failed but UCC failed to do their own assessment before honoring the President”.
