Residents of Apitisu a farming community in the Amansie Central District and the Assembly Member of the area Fredrick Appiah Danquah have urged the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Mr. James Oppong-Boanuh to name the newly built Apitisu Police station after the District Chief Executive (DCE) of Amansie Central District Hon Kwame Asamoah Boateng.
Apitisu community has recorded several cases of murder and robbery cases due to lack of police station in the community.
The residents speaking in an interview with Pure Fm’s Osei Kwadwo monitored by Ghtimesonline.com expressed their displeasure about insecurity in the community.
According to the residents, robbers have been over the years tormenting their lives due to lack of police station in the area to protect lives and properties.
“Police station was our major problem because of robbery cases and criminal activities which have been occurred in our communities. We have complained about it over the years for police station but all the DCE who has served our district failed to address our concern” They said.
They added that “When President Akuffo Addo appointed Hon Kwame Asamoah Boateng, he came to meet the community and we told him to give us police station and police officers. He gave us assurance of which we didn’t even believe it but now the police station has been completed”.
The residents expressed their gratitude to Hon Kwame Asamoah Boateng for fulfilling his promise to them and appealed to President Akuffo Addo to reappoint him as DCE for the district.
The Assembly Member of the Apitisu Electoral Area Fredrick Appiah Danquah explained that before the newly built police station in the area by Hon Kwame Asamoah Boateng, DCE for Amansie Central, the community was having a police station which was collapsed after a heavy downpour.
According to Fredrick Appiah Danquah, “In case of any murder or robbery case, we have to go to Jacobu, the district capital of Amansie Central District which is too far from this community to lodge a complaint. It really affected security situation in this community”
“We are appealing to IGP Mr. James Oppong-Boanuh to name this police station after Hon Kwame Asamoah Boateng because we will forever remember him for addressing our major problem by building a new police station in our community” Fredrick Appiah Danquah said.
