The Sekyere Afram Plains Constituency Communication Officer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) Mahmud Kabore has rebuked the Ghana Police Service and National Security operatives for intimidating and attacking demonstrators and Journalists who are criticizing President Akufo-Addo’s government.

According to Mahmud Kabore, Ghana Police Service and National Security operatives should challenge their energy and intimidation to galamseyers who are destroying water bodies and lands in the country.

Speaking in an interview with Pure FM’s Osei Kwadwo monitored by Ghtimesonline.com Mahmud Kabore the fight against galamsey would have been successful if National Security operatives and Ghana Police Service chased and intimidated the galamseyers like how they are intimidating Journalists and Ghanaians who are criticizing President Akufo-Addo’s government.

“After Independence, Ghanaians were told the police are our friends and Ghanaians witnessed the friendship between them and the police during former President John Agyekum Kuffour, late Evans Atta Mills, and John Dramani Mahama administrations but under President Akuffo Addo’s administration, the police have become our enemies due to how the police have been treating Ghanaians especially those criticizing Nana Addo’s government,” Kabore said.

Mahmud Kabore added that “the President who told Ghanaians to be Citizens and not Spectators and also charged Ghanaians to criticism his government is now using National Security operatives and Ghana Police Service to intimidate and attack his critics. President Akuffo Addo should learn from his predecessors and accept criticism”

“If the police are our friends it will be very difficult to toucher journalists and Ghanaians who were arrested for criticizing President Akuffo Addo’s government. The intimidation and attack from Ghana Police Service and National Security operative is becoming too much many and it has to be condemn”.
